Zaven Rock-and-roll interview Series: Raj Kulasingam, Senior Partner at Denton

Q: Is Legal Tech the Real Thing or Just a Fad?

Raj: “I was never interested in legal tech, even though I’m a lawyer. Selling to lawyers has always been tough—they’re notorious for being slow adopters. But in the last year, AI and Gen AI have changed the game significantly. The speed of innovation has multiplied, and that’s why I’m here today, why we’ve been discussing this over the past year. And finally, there will be clear winners and losers in legal tech among law firms. Firms with a global presence, like Dentons, have the advantage of scale and resources to invest in new tech. Being in 80 countries with over 200 offices gives us the buying power and the ability to take risks smaller firms can’t. In the next 2-5 years, we’ll see these dynamics play out, benefiting both law firms and investors in legal tech.”
